Jonathan Stickland Reaches 76 Co-Authors on Military Families Bill

January 15, 2013

Bedford—Today Rep. Jonathan Stickland (R–Bedford) announced that he has reached 76 co-authors on HB 202, a bill allowing the children of military service members ten days of excused absence from school when their parent or guardian is deployed or returns from deployment.

Stickland commented on the accomplishment saying, “I’m humbled and excited about the outpouring of support for HB 202 that has come from both sides of the aisle. This is going to be a tough session with tough decisions but it’s nice to see there are common sense solutions which bring everyone together. To have a majority of the Texas House supporting this legislation makes a clear statement that the time is now for the Legislature to support military families. I look forward to working with my colleagues on this bill and others.”
