A couple of months ago we began working on a new website to kick off the 83rd session. I know that strong communication with constituents is important and my website will be a key tool in communicating with all of you so that you can be informed and involved in the legislature. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office if you have any questions or concerns.

I wanted to launch a new website because I plan to keep each of you up to date as much as possible on all that goes on here in Austin. We’ve got many fights ahead and I need your help, encouragement, and prayers during the next five months. Please consider sharing the site with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Today we are discussing the House rules which govern the way we pass legislation. I will be proposing one amendment requiring a constitutional citation for each bill. It will require a section in the analysis that accompanies each bill which will point to where, in the Texas Constitution, the State is given the authority to enact a given bill. I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues to pass this amendment and will keep you updated on its status via Facebook.
