Taxpayer Pledge

January 30, 2012

Our campaign is picking up serious steam. We have knocked on over 1,000 homes in the district,
continue to meet with influential local leaders, and speak in front of area Republican groups every day.

Since I made the decision to run for State Representative I have been faced with a lot of tough decisions in regards to my campaign. Signing the Texans for Fiscal Responsibility’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge was very easy for me. It states the following: “I, Jonathan Stickland, pledge to the taxpayers of House District 92 of the State of Texas and all the people of this state that I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.”

Why was this so easy to do? I am convinced we do not have a revenue problem in the state of Texas. WE HAVE A SPENDING PROBLEM.

Our state budget is bursting at the seams with wasteful spending, inefficiencies, unconstitutional programs/departments, and fraud. I refuse to go to the taxpayers of this state and ask them for more money, we must return to a proper role of limited government.

As of today Todd Smith has chosen NOT to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. After studying his 16 year record I am not shocked. You can’t say the man is not consistent.

Please make sure to let us know if and how you want to be a part of this grassroots campaign. Election Day is getting closer and we need all hands on deck to propel us to victory.

While Todd Smith can bank on receiving fat checks from special interests and lobbyists, we depend on donations from local concerned citizens like you. Will you help us spread our conservative message by making a generous financial contribution today of $500, $250, $100, or $25?
